The “Escola del Consum” in Catalonia carries out a series of educational workshops on the consumption adapted to the different groups to which it is addressed.
On Thursday March 1st, we did a workshop: “What am I going to wear today?” Clothes and purchase criteria. The visit focused on attitudes.
“What am I going to wear today?” is a question we ask ourselves daily and takes us to consumption: consumption of water and soap for the shower, of clothes, of shoes… In this workshop we analyzed the factors that influence us when we want to choose all these products. The theme was “JEANS” (from the field where cotton is grown until they arrive in our wardrobe) and we could think about the different criteria we should have when we want to buy something: economic, legal, healthy , fashion…
There we learnt things about the fair trade and the responsible consumption: local consumption.
FAIR TRADE:
This is a type of trade alternative to the traditional international trade, which is based in its production, distribution and marketing.
Here are some aims of fair trade:
· Protect the human rights.
· Refuse the infantile exploitation.
· Respect the environment.
· Ensure decent working conditions.
We can find products of fair trade in solidarity shops, specialized in products from the fair trade, in the internet shops of fair trade and also in some stores and supermarkets.
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION: LOCAL CONSUMPTION
Responsible consumption is consumed with solidarity criteria and sustainable criteria. The local consumption is also a responsible consumption.
The local consumption is the consume of products and services done with our own territorial environment.
The local consumption has benefits like:
· We help to maintain small family farms, agricultural and life stock, while avoiding the abandonment of forest areas.
· We contribute to the growth and development of our country
There you will find a lot of information about fair trade, responsible consumption and local consumption.
